All the proceeds of the Fred Whitton Challenge go to charity.
So please help us raise even more by printing off the
sponsorship form
and asking family, friends, work colleagues etc. to sponsor your ride.
The two charities we support
both have a strong connection
with Fred.
All the years he organised
races he was a big encouragement
to all the riders, young and
old, and he would have been
over the moon knowing that
the donation from the ride
was helping to send young
riders with The Dave Rayner
Fund onto the continent to
learn the art of international
bike racing. Some have stayed
on the continent too and have
made a successful living as
a professional cyclist.
When Fred developed cancer,
The MacMillan Nurses helped
looked after him. All the
nurses spoke of his humour
and good nature, something
that all his friends and family
had known for many years.
Again we could not think of
a better cause to help, and
with the donations the riders
collect this will help The
MacMillan Nurses continue
with their excellent work.
We have now organised the
event for nine years, having
to cancel in 2001 for the
Foot and Mouth outbreak. In
that time the riders have
raised one hundred and fifteen
thousand pounds for our two
main charities.
